Brandon's Taekwondo Promotion Test (Red Belt)

Thursday, Dec. 8th was Brandon's Taekwondo promotion test. It was right after school so we had to go quickly through the snow to get to our car 3 blocks away. Brandon was definitely nervous because he cried. He didn't want to go. We keep reminding him to have confidence.

Everyone was relieved when the test was finally over. Brandon did a great job. Mommy and the Instructors were proud of him.

Congratulations for earning a trophy for "Most Improved".

Built a Snowman on this First Snow Day of the Season

So little Brandon and I woke up to a snowy, Monday morning. Lucky for us, there was no school as it was Pro-D Day. Of course, Brandon wanted to play outside and build a snowman. I allowed him. I just watched him from the window as I worked on my laptop.

We also planned to go to Metrotown Mall to get photos with Santa. Traffic was horrible, but we got through it. We got there and just missed the first session of Santa's Photo Op. We had to wait about an hour for the next one. Lucky for us, there was wifi in the mall and we play some PokemonGo gym battles and catches while we waited in the line. So lucky we were the first in the line. The line-up eventually got longer.

Visit to the Museum of Vancouver #atMOV

Our next visit right after checking out the HR McMillan space Centre was the Museum of Vancouver. This is a separate museum in the same building as the Space Centre, but on the opposite side. Admission was also separate as well but we have inspiration pass to go inside for free.

There were displays on items we see back in the 80s. They were also items that were back from expo 86. This was long before little Brandon was born and this was when mommy was his age.

Some people thought neon lights were cool and amazing while others did not like it, so these were taken down. The museum have kept it for display.

Little Brandon had a hands-on experience with an old typewriter. I remembered my mom had one when I was his age. These things were way before electronic typewriters or even computers and printers were widely available.

Pumpkin Patch Field Trip to Aldor Acres Farm

It was the day of the Pumpkin Patch Field Trip to Aldor Acres Farm and I was one of the parent volunteers. I had to get him ready for school. I drove to the school and parked my car.

When the teacher assigned groups, Brandon got upset because none of his friends were in our group. He was crying all the way to the school bus. Then I heard the teacher said that the kids can sit anywhere and finally Brandon slowly started to calm down. I took out his NDS to share with his friends. The boys had a good time sharing the games on the bus ride.

At Aldor Acres Farm, the group parted ways and checked out what's around. We first went into the barn on the right side. The kids played on the hay stacks and held baby bunnies. Then we went over to the left side of the barn. There were bigger bunnies, puppies in the pen, and more hay stacks for the kids to climb on. They enjoyed that. I was carrying the kids backpacks while they played.

The kids got messy with the mud puddles. I was glad there was a hose to rinse most of it off. It started to rain and got chilly as we were finishing lunch. After lunch, it was the hay ride to the pumpkin patch. The kids were so happy to pick their own pumpkins.

Visit to the HR MacMillan Space Centre

It was a beautiful sunny day it was. We had inspiration pass and took the opportunity and time to visit the HR the MacMillan space Centre, Brandon has been here before but we've never went inside we took photos of the metal crab with monument just outside the building.

We were able to catch the show and called the black hole. It was interesting to learn about it and seeing the projection in the auditorium it made us feel like we were actually in space it was dark all around.

After the show, we had a chance to walk around and saw other stuff in the museum. What a fun day it was for Little Brandon spending the day with mommy.

Recap of The Big Mindful Draw #BigDrawVan

The Big Draw Vancouver was held on October 1st, 2016. Frog Hollow Neighbourhood House was also part of this workshop event. It was a rainy day, but we had no plans after lunch so Brandon and Mommy went to see how it was like. There were seniors, teens, parents and children participating.

We coloured in the designs that were available to us of our choice. Brandon chose the phoenix design. He did an amazing job.

Happy Birthday!

September 26th was Little Brandon's birthday. We didn't do any big celebration, but just with the family. It was also Pro-D Day, there was no school. Mommy took Brandon out and treated him a Happy Meal at McDonald's. Later on, we went to pick up a few things from the dollar store. I let him pick an item and he chose a pack of UNO cards. When we went home, we played games and UNO. We then waited for our cousin to come by and opened presents and had cake. Brandon showed her the R/C car that mommy and daddy bought him. He told me he had an awesome day!

Happy 8th Birthday!

PEPI HOUSE Educational App for Kids {Review}

Pepi House by Pepi Play

Meet and greet the huge Pepi family in Pepi House! Join 10 lovely characters in their day to day life. Create your own scenarios, play, explore and have fun!

PEPI HOUSE is a fun and safe educational game for kids about daily life in a household. It’s a digital version of a classical toy — doll house. We’ve spent a fair amount of time playing together in real life and this inspired us to create a digital version. PEPI HOUSE is designed to be as reminiscent to real life toys as possible, but the digital element allowed us to offer something even more.

While playing kids can learn basic home rules, explore daily routines, learn the names and use of different equipment, experiment with various items and discover many new things every day. There are hundreds of items within PEPI HOUSE, most of them can be interacted with and some of them can be mixed and matched for awesome results!

MY THOUGHTS: This is quite a fun, interactive game with different scenes that my child can learn how to do tasks around the household. Although it's not realistic, he can still experiment how things work virtually on the iPad screen. When I told my son, Brandon, that I was letting him try a new app, he was pretty excited and curious. First, we tried the free version, but it was limited to only one scene: the kitchen. My son saw the garage scene and told me he really wanted to play that. I decided to pay $3.99 ($2.99 USD) for the full version of the app.

My son thinks there's a glitch where the car can still drive out without tires. "The funny glitch is in the garage. First fix car then get ready by putting wheels on then as he moves out quickly take off wheels then he is driving with no tires," says Brandon.

FEATURES:
• 4 house floors representing different areas of a household.
• 10 different characters (Including favourite pets!).
• Hundreds of items available for play.
• Themed rooms carefully represents real life environment. Each room is filled with various items you’d expect to find in a real house.
• Great animations and sounds.
• Can be played by various methods. PEPI HOUSE is all about the freedom to experiment.
• Use the elevator to move items and characters between different floors.
• No in-app purchases.
• No third-party advertising.
• Recommended age: 3-7
